A great American Icon

As an avid reader of non fiction, I never read fiction this book stands out in my mind as about a good of read as I have read in all my near 80 years. It was if I had been there during these adventures. It is truly worth your time to read. A truly great American story.

wonderful anthology of the great frontier

This is just a fine piece of work, well written- quite enjoyable. It's probably the best of the western books next to my favorite author Louis Lamour.
I really was surprised at the history it included of the USA at the time too.

Very good. It was written when Carson was alive and is very likely quite accurate. The down side the language used is not what we current use.
