About the Author
Jeffrey Perloff was trained as an economist at the University of Chicago and at MIT. He taught microeconomics at MIT and the Wharton School of Business before moving to the University of California, Berkeley, where he teaches today. Perloff has conducted exhaustive research within economics, and his articles have appeared in esteemed publications, including the International Economic Review, the Review of Economic Studies, and Econometrica. He has also published several works in psychology journals. In addition to teaching and research, Perloff has served as consultant and advisor to government agencies such as the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the Federal Trade Commission.

Can an economics book be funny? Yes, it can!

Purchased for an intermediate micro class. Not only is the material explained well with real-life examples, but you get the added plus of the author's dry sense of humor in the content and as footnotes! Having the answers to many of the problems in the back is great for review. Recommended!

Gigantic book, but not that great

I am using this book for college intermediate micro and I have to say that it really hasn't helped one bit. Economics is best understood when presented with numerous examples and this book contains very few. For the price, don't buy. I don't even use mine anymore and just look up whatever is confusing. I suggest anyone else to do the same.

Well written, quirky and relevant!

It's well written and informative, but it handles more like a mathematics textbook than an economics survey. That is understandable considering the heavy emphasis on Calculus concepts. Nonetheless, the author is quirky and personable. If you like professor humor, good quotes, and relevant examples, this is the book for you and your class!
